Welcome ☕️

Welcome to Vegin Vegan Vegun!

Here you'll find vegan Japanese recipes inspired by home cooking, seasonal ingredients, and everyday life in Japan.

From traditional sweets and rice dishes to modern plant-based adaptations, I share the recipes I cook in my own kitchen and the stories behind them.

Vegan Japanese style Hamburger Steak

Japanese food is often introduced through sushi, ramen, or restaurant dishes, but there is another side to it that doesn't appear as often outside Japan—everyday meals, family recipes, seasonal ingredients, and the food people cook at home.

Many of the recipes on this site are inspired by those traditions. Some are vegan versions of dishes I grew up with, while others are new creations shaped by the ingredients and seasons around me.

I try to write each recipe as clearly as possible, so you can cook at your own pace and understand not only how to make a dish, but also why certain ingredients are used and how they fit into Japanese food culture.

If you have questions or thoughts, you're always welcome to leave a message. I read every one.

If you'd like to know more about the person behind this website, please read on.

About Me

I was born and raised in rural Japan in the 1990s, surrounded by fields, forests, and distinct seasonal changes. Growing up, I became curious about places beyond my hometown, and that curiosity eventually led me abroad.

In my twenties, I spent four years living in Vancouver, Canada. Since then, I've traveled to several countries, including the UK, India, the Philippines, South Korea, and France.

Although I enjoy discovering new places, I often find myself drawn to forests, rivers, parks, and coastlines rather than busy city centers. Walking remains one of my favorite ways to explore a place and pay attention to what is around me.

After visiting India in 2013, I began practicing yoga, mainly Iyengar yoga. Over the years, I also developed an interest in meditation and Gestalt therapy, which encouraged me to pay closer attention to daily life and my relationship with food.

As my interests evolved, my eating habits changed as well. I gradually moved toward a plant-based diet and began experimenting with ways to adapt familiar Japanese dishes using plant-based ingredients.

This website grew out of that process—a place to share vegan Japanese recipes, seasonal ingredients, and everyday cooking from my corner of Japan.

I started this site to share the kind of vegan Japanese food I cook at home and to make plant-based Japanese cooking feel more approachable.

Most of the recipes here come from everyday life—seasonal ingredients, family cooking, and dishes I return to throughout the year.

I hope you'll find something that inspires you to cook, introduces you to a new ingredient, or helps you discover a different side of Japanese food.
